The Nominees Are In: Meet Your Top 8 dTk Photography Models

Two weeks ago, when 1st decided to put this competition together, I never expected the outcome that came with this. I'm truly touched by the people who support my work, and what it stands for. People always say to me, the people you shoot aren't real models, and I always say, yes they are, they are dTk photography models. My photography has, and will always be for everyone! My photography is to help build people, and their confidence. It gives people a chance to experience a part of their lives they once believed that could not do based on what others has said. It is also used to help others build their portfolios & whatever else they choose dTk photography services for. I used to be the one so afraid to modeling, and getting in front of a camera (because of what I thought I looked like & how I felt about myself), and so forth. Now I have photos of me all across the Internet. I've found that I loved what I did for myself when it came to being a model, and that I wanted to share that with others. So I self taught myself everything I know when it came to photography (and I'm still learning). I wanted to show people they can do anything they put their minds to. I'm a perfect example of that. I'm proud to be able to provide opportunities for individuals who wants to make a little part of their dream, feel a bit like reality. For all those who submitted these nominees, I encourage you to continue to support these guys dreams, and continue to push them to the next level.   Again thanks to anyone who has supported anything dTk photography has done!!!!!

Now that's off my chest (LOL) let the competition begin!!!!!!! Ok this is how things are going to go down!!! Because there were so many ties when it came to the nomination process between the models, that instead of having 4 we now have 8 nominees!!!!!(this competition has gotten bigger than I thought it would be) There are 8 guys here, but only 5 people from this group can continue on to the finals. So people, who should continue on to compete in the 1st dTk photography's Model of the Year contest. Place your votes now!!!! You have until October 19th to vote. The 5 models that will continue on, will work with different designers, & photographers (including me). We will do challenges to see who really has what it takes to win this thing. The winning model will have a gang of prizes & opportunities provided to them, that I wish I could get HELL lol.    Just to name a few:

*A Full Spread photo shoot by dTk photography.
*Featured in my next blog banner photo with me.
*A interview With Openfly Magazine.
*Multiple promotional photo shoots in select local designers clothing, including different dTk photography adds, as well as other promotional photos for and with other photographers.
Earlier today these guys announced these prizes for my winner as well: (I just totally love them for their support)
*Jaleer: If the winner of DTk Photography (@deontek) is a female they will get two (2) tickets to our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Debut in NYC in February as well as our 1st pair "Halos" designed especially for them. (None of the females I've shot participated in this, so I guess this is out... wish they really would have.)
*Aestín: If the winner of DTk Photography (@deontek) is a male, they will receive one (1) custom made garment of their choice and will be invited to our fashion show in LA in April.
*Plus plenty more!!!!  (some things I can't name due to request of the vendor or contributor, until some things are worked out).....

Deonte` Who Designed Your Shirt?.....

..... this has been the most asked question of me this pass week about the shirt I'm wearing in this photo. I had it designed personally for me, for my dTk photography all star shoot a month ago by a talented guy named Davon Kane. The company is Durrt Inc. and he does some wonderful pieces. I'm definitely a fan, and have already purchased more outfits from the up and coming designers collection. Check him out & tell him Deonte` sent you! 


When I see this photo, It makes me think about Jennifer Hudson's version of "Feeling Good." Because that's exactly how I'm feeling these days. I'm in love, I have a great family, wonderful friends, building my photography company, and I'm enjoying life right now @ 30 years old. I've come a long way in my life to get where I am. It can only get better.

...... As you guys know, I love to do blog banners. This year I slowed down, and didn't do them from month to month like I did last year, but I still totally enjoy doing them. This time around, I'm bringing along a team of my favs from dTk photography. Together we will create my new up coming blog banner... Can't wait for this to go down!!!!   

6 Months & Still Counting....

Today 6 months ago, me and Kevin decided to take this journey called love together, and have been rolling ever since. This man is truly a blessing to me. I love him with all that's in me. I feel we were made for each other. I'm glad I allowed myself to love again, because if I would have missed out on this dude, I would have never found my soul-mate. Our love is so powerful. It's something I've never experienced ever in my life. But I'm glad we found each other to share our lives with, because that's how long I plan on being here! In my Tamar Braxton voice "This dude right here, is totally different" LMAO!!!! "6 months & still counting" (rolls dice)... can we get another 6 months, hell let's make it forever.... yeah I can manage that. I love you Kevin! Happy anniversary.

(Ex- Twitter Friends) Trippin' Over My Photo

The other night I was on twitter, and my current profile photo is this photo of me and Kevin. And I notice alot of people on my timeline was sending out subliminal messages about my photo. Someone even had the nerve to say, I don't like same sex relationship photos on my timeline. Which created the whole mess. Although this person was joking, I didn't take it as a joke, because they also tweeted "gay relationships never work" and so on. Another thing that was said was "I'm starting to think that some ppl get into relationships for attention" & "ODA (online display of affection) is so annoying!"


See back in the day I would have cursed these hoes out! I would have gutted them out to the wolves, but I realized I'm 30 now, so I've calmed down alot! LOL... so I simply just deleted them, blocked them, and kept tweeting LOL (although I did slightly let them have it, just a tab lol)..... @ the end of the day I'm happy, and don't give a F what people think! 


But last night, so many of my great twitter buddies said some great things about the photo, which made what the other punks said the other night seem like water under a bridge. Lost Soul

Definition: "somebody who has no direction in his/her life, a lost soul can have many acquaintances but never any real close friends. often a lost soul will long for someone to understand him/her, and because it is hard to understand the mind of a lost soul, often one will think he/her is mentally unstable, especially in today's culture and society."


If you knew of a individual like this, you would know, no matter what you did for them, or how much you tried to help them, or understand them, they just don't get it. I guess if they continue to tell you they are a "F**ked up person" you should just believe them. I totally wish this person well, and I hope they find the much needed help they need. I've learned in my 30 years of being here, that you can't save the world, so I'm throwing up my white flag on this one. May God bless and help you!

Fallin' In Love.......

Life is such a crazy thing sometimes. One day your laying in a bed full of tears, full of heartache, and pain from a love you never thought would end. You say to yourself "I will never find love like this again." Apart of you is totally lost, and everything in your world changes. You eventually build this wall, and believe not a soul will ever get a chance to get over it. Well as time goes by, you heal. Your strength comes back, and your totally back on track. Then you look over at your wall, and you see this strong little solider getting over it. He comes out nowhere ready to give you all you ever dreamed of.  Not just anyone but someone super special. Someone you didn't see coming at all. You guys connect, and it's like magic. Slowly you form this bond. Your heart opens up, and they fit in just like a key to a lock. Finally you realize (after some time), that you have Fallin' In Love all over again. You would think after all you been through before, you would never be open to doing it again. Well I guess that all changes, because I stand here today in love with the man of my Dreams. Someone who makes me feel like everything I went through before him was worth it. If I knew it would lead me to him, I would go threw all the hurt and pain all over again. I want to say to him, thanks for being who you are. Thanks for coming into my life and shaking it up a bit LOL.... thanks for all your support, and most importantly, thanks for loving me! Your the best!

Shout out to all my Facebook, and Twitter friends for all the bday love.... if it wasn't for my parents doing it one night/or day (hell I gotta ask them when was I conceived lmao), I wouldn't be here, so thank them!!! HAHAHAHHA.... now it's time to go out and enjoy 30 with my babe!!!! He has made this day even more special!!!

Happy 26th Bday Daniel!!!!! :)

Daniel has truly become a very important person in my life. When I was down, and going through alot this pass summer, he entered my life, and help lift me up. From the special trips we took together to New York, and Miami, and just the general places here at home has been really wonderful to me. As alot of people know, I never really been anywhere or go places, and he was the 1st to get me on a plane lol. When I think of love, I see Daniels left side of his chest, and inside there is this big thing that's called a heart that beats unconditional love (not for just me) but for any, and everyone he encounters. Truly a wonderful guy. I feel so lucky to have him in my life as a friend. I know I can call on him for a shoulder to lean on. He is one of my favorite people in the world, and one of the "BEST" friends I will ever have in this lifetime. There will never be another person like him to me, and I'm proud to be able to say he has blessed me with his presence, and lucky enough to be in his life. So happy 26th bday my dear friend. I LOVE YOU so much!!!! Enjoy your bday, and I will be seeing you soon. Muah!!!!

Happy 25th Bday Kevin

Today is my babe Kevin's 25th bday. 


He's has been a really wonderful person to me lately, and I totally enjoy the time we spend together. He's the best. He has been teaching me how to love again. Times were a little rough after my last relationship, but he makes me feel it's OK to let go again.
