Speaking......

Whatever happened to the days where people entered a room full of folks and they genuinely opened their mouths to speak. I don't know, maybe its me, but I was always taught when I entered a room, it was always polite to say hello or whatever. It's this one thing at work I can't stand. He will walk up into work, flop pass everyone, and not say one word. I used to find myself being nice speaking 1st and so on, until one day I was like this boy never speaks to anyone. It got to the point where my boss had to tell this dude, when you walk in I want u to start saying hello to everyone. I mean who has to get pulled in a office to get lessons on speaking? Anyway I had to get that off my chest. All I know he doesn't have to ever speak to me, but if he plans on going far in this world, he better develop some better people skills! I don't like doing tit for tat stuff, but when I see this boy I look right through him I swear I do lol. I just can't stand how disrespectful he is. So in order to tune him out, I pretend he doesn't exist lol.

You my friend have learned to exercise what you were taught and admonished to do. He on the other hand may not have had the luxury of those attributes presented to him on consistent bases. In some countries it is not only apropos to greet an individual but it also suggest that you bow. Now imagine encountering that every morning… El o El

I agree with Sir Yellow Bone...it's something that most Black people possess and were taught. When walking about at work with a white guy he asked me if I knew all the black people that work at our company. I was surprised by the question...but realized that it's just something that Black People do. Now if this guy is Black at your job then he is trying to be something else I would guess. Just my thought.

D-Place: Yes the guy is Black.

I just think it's polite to Speak when you enter a room full of people... especially if it's people you deal with on a daily basics.

A "hi" and a smile are so easy to give and so nice to receive...

I try to be polite and speak when i enter a room. I may not depending on how i'm feeling but yes a smile nod or "hi" goes a long way.

LOL @ flop past every one! I remember older people saying "I didn't sleep with you last night" if I walked into a room without speaking. I never did understand what that meant, but I knew if I heard it, I was to speak. Needless to say, I never heard it too many times before I caught on.

It should be so hard to simply say "Hi everybody" and keep it moving. Oh well!
