Updating Profile Status from "Single" to "In A Relationship"

Me and a buddy was chatting the other day, and he brought up this topic. He wanted to know "At what point in dating someone do you change your dating status on Facebook (or any other social network site)? And is it a problem if the other doesn't change their status?"

When he asked me this, I thought about it, and said good question. So I wonder how you guys feel about it. Does it really matter to you if your significant other updates his or her profile status on social networks from single to being in a relationship because you choose, or want to do it?

I personally feel it depends on the couple. I wouldn't force my lover to change their status once we decide to become one. It has to be something he wants to do. Some people choose to do it & not to do it for many reasons (some are good reasons, some could be bad reasons). But if you know your partner, then the reason they may want to or not, should be completely fine with you. If not, this is something you guys definitely should discuss before it becomes a issue.

I think both should update...it shows a level of commitment by both individuals. I will say that it announces something to people as well since you can link back to each others profiles. Make no mistake about it, if you are happy and you know it- tell the world!

CHANGING FACEBOOK RELATIONSHIP STATUS IS ALWAYS A CRAZY THING ESPECIALLY WHEN THESE GAYS ARE JUMPING IN AND OUT OF RELATIONSHIPS ON A REGULAR BASIS. SOMETIMES ITS BEST JUST TO LEAVE IT ALONE

I agree, this is a good question. Personally, I don't care if it's updated or not. It solely depends on the couple. I'd update mine from single if my BF wanted me to, but otherwise *shrug*
