Movie Review: Cadillac Records & Seven Pounds

Over the Christmas Holiday I got a chance to see some movies. Both of these movies featured three of my favorite entertainers. Beyonce` Knowles & Gabrielle Union in Cadillac Records. Will Smith in Seven Pounds.

One of these movies I didn't expect too much from, and was blown away. The other I knew would be great, but unfortunately it disappointed me. See my reviews below.

B+
Cadillac Records

This was the one I didn't expect to much from, but was blown away by Beyonce`s performance. I don't care what y'all say, she played that role. One of her best acting gigs yet! I thought the movie was a little slow at 1st, but when she appeared it got even better. She sang the hell out them songs for real. I fell in love with her all over again watching this movie. Loved her in this movie. My girl Gabrielle was excellent (as usual in her movies). I love her. Columbus Short was great too. I didn't even know it was him in this movie. My friend that I went with to see this with was like, that's the dude from "Stomp the Yard." And I was like where? Lol.... I was shocked. He was really good. I think everyone else was good too. They just stood out to me. I recommend everyone to go see this movie. It was really good. I truly enjoyed it.

Seven Pounds

OMG! I was so disappointed in this film. I love me some Will Smith, lord knows I do lol.. But this movie was just alright to me. I understood the concept, and the whole thing that was going on here, but over all I was like Ok! Come on with it shoot! It had it's great moments. But over all it was not all that, as some people made it out to be. I need my Will to do better for me lol. Well his acting was good. Well everyone's acting was good. But the movie as a whole, gest a thumb down from me.

Hey cuzo...how are you?? I hope all is well.

I saw 7 pounds and I really don't think that this movie should have made it to the big screen. I liked the whole concept and all, but I couldn't see myself watching this in the movie theater. It was pretty much predictable on what he was going to do at the end, because of the opening scene. Boy, I love me some Will Smith too. I also thought Rosario Dawson did a great job as well. Overall I gave it 3 1/2 stars.

I know a lot of people were mad because Beyonce didn't show up until like the last 25 minutes of the movie...& Columbus Short did play his role but his cajun dialect was a bit off 2 me.....all in all it was a good movie....

7 pounds...I dont have much to say.... before I saw it I was trying to guess the plot & I was right....& my sister was mad because I told her, so she tried to blame me on why the movie wasn't good...but i'm like I didnt tell the world the synopsis so why don't they like it 2...so, i'm with you on this one..it was just OK...I wouldn't go see it twice except for the first minute & a half of the movie

Um i agree that cadillac records was a good movie. but i'm glad Beyonce came in at the end. she was the worst actor in the movie. if that was her best role then that says a lot about her as an actress. my girl Gabby was beautiful as usual. Jeffrey Wright was great. love him.
for you seven pound haters get out of here man. i loved it. yeah it was slow and it had you waiting for something big but nothing big ever came. the wow factor was the lessons you can take from it or just the things about it that made you think. will smith is great and yes he is trying for that oscar a lil too hard but i loved this movie and having him and Rosario team up again was cute. i love her as well. especially as Mimi. lol

7 pounds was too predictable for me.

***Spoiler***

On the first scene of the movie, where they showed him calling the ambulance for a SUCIDE not a SUCIDE ATTEMPT, I knew what the heck was going on. It was soooooo predictable. Then everybody he came into contact with was sick in some way or another, I had him pegged from the start.

But he did a good acting job, so I ain't mad at him.

You already know how I feel about Seven Pounds so I am not even going to get started on that foolishness. Just because he kills a few people in an accident doesn't give him the power to play God with his life and the lives of others. There is no redemption in that.

I too was surprised with Cadillac Records. All of the actors were great especially the lead actor that played Muddy Waters. Beyonce was good on her role, but I stand by the fact that she played the hell out of Diana Ross in Dreamgirls.....lololololol even though they wouldn't admit that she was playing her.

I thought Seven Pounds was just Otay myself...However, I'll love Will Smith in anything.
The whole "twist" ending was not all that it was cracked up to be...Not by a long shot.

I skipped Cadillac Records. I love me some Beyonce but I kept hearing all of these crappy reviews. However, I'll wait for the DVD though.
